Instructors

Randy and Sarah Reid
Randy and Sarah have been dancing together since their marriage in 1997, and have been teaching together since 1998. They are highly qualified to teach east coast, lindy hop, charleston, balboa, shag, and other dances of the swing era. They have a casual teaching style that focuses on ensuring that students fully grasp the material presented, helping each student to be the best dancer they can. Nobody, no matter how clumsy, has ever walked out of one of their classes not being able to dance at least the basic steps. On top of all that, their classes are fun and exciting! (Particularly if you like sports analogies and bad puns.)

Randy and Sarah have taken lessons from some of the top instructors in the nation, and continue to refine not only their personal dancing, but their teaching skills, as well. This focus on continually improving their teaching abilities makes them unique in the Des Moines area. Also unique among area instructors is their ability - and enthusiasm - to teach their students the techniques behind the dances, and the skills behind the moves. Rather than just showing students a move and having them copy it, Randy and Sarah explain the mechanics of each move, helping students to develop the leading and following skills that make any dance easier and more enjoyable. Through their experience and knowledge, they not only help their students to develop good dancing "habits," but they are also able to help other students to unlearn the bad habits they may have picked up elsewhere.

You can read more about Randy and Sarah, their current classes, and their teaching style at their website.

Mike and Janet Dennis
Mike and Janet are newer to teaching, but they've been dancing for about 5 years now. Mike and Janet bring patience and knowledge to their classes, as well as enthusiasm and a great sense of fun.
